The state of Florida is perhaps the most popular tourist destination in the world. Literally hundreds of millions of travelers from the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia and the rest of the world flock here annually in search of tropical beaches, golf courses and the greatest assortment of amusement parks anywhere. Despite its leisurely, laid-back vacation atmosphere, Florida has a number of wonderful venues that can provide outstanding educational experiences for young and old alike. Tours That Teach uses Florida's unique resources to create special opportunities that enhance any classroom curriculum without being cost prohibitive.

Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral

Florida's east coast city of Titusville is the space capital of the world. There are a number of special features that make it the best location for space age learning. The Astronaut Hall of Fame has an assortment of hands-on exhibits teach a variety of concepts use in space exploration. You can blast off in a shuttle simulator or experience weightlessness all under one roof. The Kennedy Space Center has a variety of educational programs for school groups. In addition there are bus tours of the shuttle complex and space station area. We'll plan a 3D IMAX movie to cap of your visit.

The Okefenokee or Everglades Swamps

Florida has the two largest swamps in North America. These unique ecosystems provide an excellent environment for teaching biodiversity, conservation and other life science topics. We'll develop a unique program for your students that will enhance any number of science curriculum objectives.

Marine Biology Opportunities With literally thousands of miles of shoreline, Florida provides excellent resources for teaching about the ocean, estuaries, rivers, and their wildlife. Your students can tube in a river that gushes straight out of the ground, swim with the endangered manatees or troll for organisms on the ocean floor as they learn lessons that will last a lifetime.

St. Augustine

Learn about our country's early history as you visit the oldest city in North America. We'll provide a variety of tour opportunities that will be both instructional and entertaining.

Other Florida attractions include.

Florida has other great resources scattered around the state. For a special art excursion, we can visit the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg. Sarasota is home to the Ringling Brothers Museum. There are science museums in Tampa and Orlando. The Florida Aquarium in Tampa features the state's unique aquatic habitats. The Florida Keys provide excellent snorkling opportunities. In addition, several state parks provide interesting science environments not found anywhere else in North America

And of course, there are Florida's amusement parks.

Make your tour fun and educational with one of the special programs available at several of the Central Florida's amusement parks. The best educational value is at SeaWorld. It has several special tours that are fun and enlightening as well as a wonderful assortment of shows and programs that entertain and teach too. Take a look at the web site located in our Learning Links section. Busch Gardens in Tampa (owned by the same company as SeaWorld) has a fantastic zoo and outstanding Egyptian exhibit. Walt Disney World has some special programs available at Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, the Magic Kingdom, and MGM. The Disney programs in and of themselves are okay but not a good educational value since the price of their ticket is about $45 per day and you must have at least a two day ticket to participate in their programs. Regardless, Tours That Teach combines Sea World, Busch Gardens or Disney along with other points of interest across the state to produce affordable learning opportunities for any age group.
